CASINO’S Beef Week festivities have already begun, although its main activities don’t officially start until today.
Yesterday, more than 30 businesses in the CBD decked out their shops and staff for the Beef Week Dress-up and Window Display.
“There was a carnival atmosphere evident everywhere,” one of the event’s judges Richmond Valley deputy mayor Shirley Wheatley said.
PRD Nationwide Casino and Ramsey and Bulmer Stock and Station Agents went for a ‘rags to riches’ theme, with stock agent Wendy Dendel hand-stitching 100 rubber gloves to a 1920s Charleston-style dress.
Property manager Kasey-Lee Flack also got into the swing of things by replacing fringing on her dress with Chux wipes.
We ‘R Kids won the schools and nursing homes’ category; Arum won the under-five-staff category and On-Focus won the over-five-staff category, while Scrivener and Web won both the best dressed staff and the best dressed window.
The official launch of Beef Week will be at the Masquerade Ball at the Casino RSM on Thursday night.
Beef Week runs until June 2.
