Masquerade ball to launch Beef Week

IN TRUE carnivale style, a masquerade ball will officially herald the start of this year’s Country Energy Casino Beef Week.

The ball will be held at the Casino RSM Club on Thursday, May 28, and organisers are promising a night of masked glamour and all the fun, colour and music of carnivale.

Sydney-based all-singing, all-dancing band, the Enormous Horns, will provide the music and entertainment on the night.

Attendees can frock up in ball gowns and black ties, or wear a little more casual attire, but all are encouraged to don a mask.

“It should be a fantastic evening,” Beef Week promotions officer Salina Runge said.

“The Enormous Horns are a real party band and can play anything from rock, pop and soul, to big band swing and rock ’n roll.

“They will start out with quiet dinner music, then when the fun really gets going they’ll be performing fully-costumed routines from the Village People, Blues Brothers, Rocky Horror Picture Show and the disco era.”

Tickets cost $50 and include a two-course dinner. They are available from the RSM Club.

The president of Casino Beef Week, Stuart George, said that this year’s opening night would also feature the announcement of the Casino Beef Week Queen.

“This change in format was requested by the community so everyone will now know who our queen is on the opening night,” he said.

“With the tickets to last year’s opening night selling out fast, we are encouraging people to get in a book their tickets as early as possible to avoid disappointment.”
