MACLEAN identity John Xavier Berlin could not make it to a court appearance yesterday because he is receiving mental health treatment.
Berlin's Lismore defence barrister David Imlah told Maclean Local Court his client was being treated as an outpatient at Tweed Hospital.
Berlin was scheduled to answer two counts of intimidation used to cause fear and mental harm, as well as offences involving the sale and possession of police uniform paraphernalia.
The 59-year-old was charged in November after a police search of his unit allegedly found a large amount of police items and evidence of threatening internet messages. He was arrested again last week after police allegedly found more evidence of internet harassment.
Berlin, charged under the name John Paul Breslin, claimed in a bail hearing in Grafton on Thursday he has multiple personality and bipolar disorders. He told the court he had a doctor's appointment on Friday that could see him admitted to a mental health clinic. The case was adjourned to Maclean Local Court on May 12.
