THE home of Beef Week made way for DJs with meaty beats and dancers who can 'pop, crump and break' as Crankfest transformed the Casino Civic Hall into a hip-hop fans haven.

Crankfest is the Northern Rivers biggest hip-hop festival and while it was downsized this year, the smaller venue didn't dim the enthusiasm of around 100 young dancers and DJs wanting to learn from the best.

Saturday's festival showcased all elements of hip-hop culture, with MCs, beat box, and DJ battles featuring on the day.

A graffiti demonstration and workshops also took place.

Highlights included performances by popper Lenard Trae, So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Travers Ross, and the renowned Nomadic Funk Crew.
