GUESSING the weight of Merlene the bull has been a good little earner for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Recruiting Max Johnson's bull Merlene raised $255.25 for the rescue service.

The winning ticked belonged to an E Miller, who guessed correctly that 662kg was the approximate weight of the bull.

Mr Johnson and his family matched the guessing competition dollar for dollar with the funds raised. The family was able to hand helicopter committee representative Revee West a cheque for $510.50.

Mr West and the helicopter crew were delighted to receive this great donation from the community.

"We are so grateful for any donation no matter how large or small, every little bit helps them stay in the air and keep saving lives around the country," Mr West said.

The next project for the committee will be to get a fundraising group up and running called a depot group.

They will be calling on the community to join in the committee fundraisers.

They will be holding a support group meeting at the Grafton District Services club on Tuesday, June 19 from 6pm.
