World faves Gypsy Kings back to liven up Bluesfest

THE biggest flamenco acts in the world today have been announced for Bluesfest 2015.

Celebrating their 25th anniversary with a world tour, the Gipsy Kings will be back in Tyagarah next year.

The Gipsy Kings are one of few non-English artists able to break music barriers to top the US mainstream and world music charts, as well as the Australian and New Zealand charts.

Also announced this week was Mexican guitar playing duo Rodrigo and Gabriela with their mix of world music.

Other artists announced this week for Bluesfest 2015 are Jurassic 5, John Mayall, Keb Mo, Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin with The Guilty Ones, JJ Grey and Mofro, Tony Joe White, Jon Cleary, Trevor Hall, Serena Ryder, Jake Shimabukuro and Music Maker Foundation.

"This artist release has the blues, the roots, hip hop and gypsy flamenco rhythms - already a perfect mix," Bluesfest director Peter Noble said.

"Just add to it a dash of swamp rock plus some southern rock and soul and you have a fine musical gumbo brewing up for your listening pleasure next Easter in Byron."
