Woman missing from Bangalow nursing home found

AN ELDERLY woman who went missing in wet conditions from a Bangalow nursing home overnight was found safe and well after a search involving police and SES.

Tweed Byron Inspector Darren Steel said the 73-year-old woman went missing at about 9pm from a nursing home on Byron Bay Rd.

Police and staff from the nursing home searched for the woman without success before calling in SES volunteers.

Insp Steel said the woman was eventually found, soaking wet but safe and well, hiding behind some garbage bins in the front yard of a Bryon Bay Rd residence.
