Waterspout triggers tornado memory
THE waterspout spinning off the coast of Lennox Head looked majestic enough.
However, no self-respecting Lennox resident could see a waterspout near their town without feeling a bit of a jolt after the events of June 3, 2010 - when one of them crossed the beach and turned into the devastating Lennox Head tornado.
The second anniversary of the disaster is only 12 days away.
Resident Noel Francis said he was out surfing at Seven Mile Beach this morning with his partner when he saw the waterspout close to the horizon, spiralling hundreds of metres up into a cloud on the horizon "on an otherwise flawless autumn morning".
Mr Francis caught the next wave into shore, grabbed his camera and caught a series of shots of the waterspout winding along the horizon.
