SPEAKING to Sydney's 18-year-old Mitchell Thompson after playing guitar on Channel 7's The Morning Show this week, the young singer is determined to do whatever it takes to make a name in the music industry.
Just out of high school, Mitchell is a man of many trades when it comes to making music. A solo singer, playing in his band Is It Her, and duo gigs with band member Tim Conlon, as well as DJing are among his talents.
Not to mention he was a well-loved contestant on Seal's team in last year's The Voice talent show.
But from tonight, Mitchell and Tim will make their debut performance in Rockhampton at The Heritage Hotel, until Saturday.
"I've never been to Rockhampton before but I just played a wedding in Bundaberg three weeks ago and to see what's happened since then is terrible," Mitch said.
"This is just a one-off show for now in Queensland, but this year we hope to play more as a band around the place."
Constantly on the move when it comes to playing live whether it be with Tim, as a band, or doing solo performances, Mitch is building his name any way he can, including getting hits in the tens of thousands on his Youtube channel for his covers.
"People are so supportive which is really inspiring to keep going," he said.
It is one of Mitch's goals to perform covers as well as the band's own originals with a hope to release an Is It Her EP in the future.
"Having a whole band play behind you with the bass and drums is great to work off everyone's energy."
Since being on The Voice, the vocalist said he'd learnt so much about performing and hopes to try his luck again in the talent show realm.
