Supermoon brightens Coffs Coast
COFFS Coast residents were thrilled by last night's Supermoon, the closest our celestial neighbour has come to planet Earth since 2008.
According to NASA the event has the moon placed 356,955km away giving an appearance up to 14% bigger than usual and up to 30% brighter.
Specialist photographer Frank Redward took many shots of the event and film footage.
"It was a bit slow to appear due to cloud on the horizon but the super bright moon has not disappointed avid moon watchers on the Mid North Coast," he said.
There's one more opportunity to view the phenomenon this evening.
The moon will rise at 5.07pm and set at 7.15am on Monday.
