THE Northern Rivers looks like it's in for a rough afternoon, weather-wise, with North Coast Storm Chasers noting the formation of a storm cell forming north east of Lismore.

In a post on its Facebook page, the storm chasers say lightning was already being recorded from the storm cell.

"As of now, there are a few cells between between Wollongbar and Murwillumbah, all in a line and moving SE," the Facebook post says.

The Bureau of Meteorology currently has no weather warnings in place for the Northern Rivers.
