IF YOU own a house in Dunoon, Richmond Hill or South Lismore, pat yourselves on the back, because your postcode has become hot property.

The latest Northern Rivers property snapshot By CoreLogic RP Data, to be published in tomorrow's Northern Star, shows the value of property in those areas has increased the most significantly in the past 12 months.

Homes in Dunoon have increased by 30% in the past 12 months with the median price now sitting at $515,000.

Richmond Hill, which sits on the outskirts of Lismore and has some magnificent views, has rocketed up 19.5%. Homes there are now fetching $567,500, on average.

South Lismore is also hot property. Forty-five homes have sold there in the past 12 months. Values have increased by close to 16% and homes are fetching an average of $255,000, which would still make it a bargain for many buyers.

The highest median prices on the Northern Rivers can be found in Byron Bay with houses going for an average of $992,000 and units $612,000.

If searching for a bargain, head to Casino, where units are averaging $160,000.
