SEEING the beauty of Fraser Island brought to life during the finale of popular Channel Seven program The Amazing Race on Wednesday night brought a smile to Danielle Andreuzzi's face.

The marketing and media manager at Tourism Fraser Coast was thrilled to see one of the area's main tourism attractions shown in such an advantageous light during the final episode of the show, as Fraser Island was revealed to be the final destination for the remaining contestants fighting it out for big prize money.

"I thought it looked absolutely fantastic," she said.

She was particularly excited by the reaction of the contestants as they reached the destination and responded to the beautiful surroundings.

"They were saying how amazing it was," Ms Andreuzzi said.

"It was great national exposure.

"It was great for the region."

The winning contestants, Victorian police Shane Haw and Andrew Thoday, were also full of praise for the final destination.

"I've got a four-wheel drive myself, so I loved driving through Fraser. I really enjoyed it," Andrew said.

Shane said it was a "real surprise," finishing on the island.

"That's the beauty of the race.

"You never know where you're going to go. To go to Fraser Island was magnificent."

Along with The Amazing Race, several other television programs have filmed on the island in recent months.

Channel Seven's Queensland Weekender visited in early July and last night ran a highly-rated family special featuring Eurong Beach Resort and Kingfisher Bay Resort.

Channel Seven Two's Spida Everitt and the crew from the Great Australian Doorstep visited early in the year and are running a year-long promotion with Australian Caravan and RV Magazine to win a trip to Fraser.

Channel Ten's Pat Callinan's 4x4 Adventures stopped at Eurong a month ago, with the segment expected to air later this year.

And Channel Seven's newly revamped The Great Outdoors, with country singer host Adam Brand, filmed a four-wheel drive special a week ago, which is expected to air in October.
