Queensland team in running for Beauty and the Geek crown

JASON and Kristy have a very real chance of winning this year's Beauty and the Geek competition after surviving four elimination rounds and becoming one of four couples contesting the $100,000 grand prize.

The 23-year-old University of the Sunshine Coast graduate and his Queensland beauty won immunity in tonight's episode and became the second team through to the finals after Kristy faked it as a geek and won the interview panel challenge.

"Kristy and I were in the bottom for a few weeks and to get to the final four is a pretty good feeling...it was one of the best experiences for me," Jason said.

"Having been in the bottom all the time, I don't think the top four was supposed to be us.

"I don't think it (surviving four eliminations) makes you more confident, but you know if someone nominates you they will have to bring their best horse if they want to battle with me and Kristy."

Jason said he didn't understand why they were perceived as a threat given they hadn't outperformed the other teams in challenges.

"I'm more of the funny guy, maybe they see me as a threat that way," he said.

Aside from the competitive nature of the game, Jason said the challenges made for a laugh, particularly when the beauties were made under into geeks.

"It's the funniest thing I've seen in my life," he said.

But perhaps it was taken a little too far, even for Jason.

"Seeing all the beauties, what they were wearing...the makeup was done really well," he said.

"I don't think I'd ever date them (looking like that). I have standards!"

The Beauty and the Geek final airs next Thursday, November 29, at 8.30pm on Channel 7.
