PUMPKIN rolling comes but once a year and when it does everyone joins in and heads for Goomeri.

Now in its 16th year, the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival has earned a reputation for good fun, great entertainment, zany events plus free entry to the festival on Sunday, May 27.

An old time licensed dinner dance at the Hall of Memory in Goomeri on Saturday, May 26 heralds the beginning of an exciting weekend.

Following a delicious dinner you can dance your cares away to popular band Richochet.

Bring your wallet with you to the dance as you will want to bid for a camel to ride in the street parade.

The funds raised from this auction are donated to a selected charity each year.

The huge market place will house more than 200 market stalls which will line the streets and fill parks, displaying arts and crafts of all kinds, handmade furniture and clothing, cakes, jams and chutneys, fruit and vegies and more.

But whatever you do, don't miss the Great Australian Pumpkin Roll.

Join hundreds of people who will head for Policeman's Hill with their pumpkin tucked under their arm in readiness for the big event at 2pm.

The lucky spot at the base of the hill has a bounty of $1000 for the pumpkin remaining on the spot at the end of the roll.

For a full list of events and registration details visit the festival website at www.goomeripumpkinfestival.com.au or phone 4168 1925 for more information.
