I'M USUALLY reluctant to line up a huge corporation like Telstra for a serve, but here goes anyway.
Apparently an "embarrassing human error" caused Telstra's massive network outage on Tuesday.
Given Telstra's market dominance this outage caused major angst and just goes to show how much the telco has us eating out of the palm of its hands.
Of course there was a huge social media backlash, but so what? What good is that going to do when Telstra rules our lives in the way it does.
The outage will be long forgotten in a couple of days, a mere blip on the screen.
But Telstra has a lot to answer for, particularly in regional areas like ours, where it's easy to settle for second class services.
After recent lightning storms on the Northern Rivers, I'm sure there are plenty of readers out there that had outages that lasted more than a few hours.
I know of some residents and businesses still without internet weeks after lightning strikes.
If we lived in major metro populations I'm sure it would be attended to quick smart.
Anyone who has been on the end of Telstra's "technical support" would also know this is an exercise in frustration.
Honestly, it would be quicker to phone a local technician who will come and fix the problem rather than tell you to switch your modem on and off from some far flung overseas location.
