Not in the red on Black Friday

The Coffs Coast Advocate

EMPLOYEES of Thomas, Noble and Russell accountancy firm in Lismore have their own superstition about Black Friday.

"One of the meanings is that it's the Friday after the American Thanksgiving, which is one of the busiest shopping days in the retail calendar, and was called this because retailers go black in accounting terms because they make so much profit," Thomas, Noble and Russell associate Adam Bradfield said.

About 60 Thomas, Noble and Russell employees have dressed entirely in black today.

They will hold a work fundraiser for relay for Life at Tommy's pub this afternoon.
