Man dies in Ballina crash - Pac Hwy diversions now lifted

UPDATE 1pm: All southbound lanes are open on the Pacific Highway two kilometres north of Ballina after a fatal multiple vehicle accident earlier this morning.

All diversions have been lifted.

There are no traffic delays for motorists in the area.

EARLIER 9.20am: A MAN has died following a crash north of Ballina this morning.

About 3.45am, a semi trailer and a sedan collided in the southbound lanes of the Pacific Highway 2km north of Ballina.

The male driver of the sedan died at the scene.

The truck driver was not injured and has been taken for mandatory blood and urine tests.

Southbound lanes on the Pacific Highway remain blocked.

The Transport Management Centre advises southbound motorists are being diverted into Ross Lane Interchange, then onto the Old Pacific Highway through Ballina.

This diversion is suitable for all vehicles including heavy vehicles.

Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time.
