A MAN has been charged after a stabbing at Kyogle in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Just after midnight on Saturday morning, police allege two men, aged 40 and 51, were walking on Geneva Street when an argument started between the two.

Police say a 21-year-old man then allegedly ran up to the 40-year-old man and punched him, causing a scuffle which resulted in the younger man stabbing the older man multiple times before running off.

The 40-year-old was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment to wounds to his face, neck and hands where he is currently in a stable condition.

Richmond Local Area Command officers set up a crime scene, began an investigation and just two hours after the incident the 21-year-old man was arrested at Kyogle Police Station.
