WITH a slip of the tongue the first act on this year's Splendour in the Grass line-up is out.

UK band Django Django told Noise11 in an interview they will be playing this year's festival, the first on Byron Bay turf since 2009.

The four-piece's current single, Default, from their debut album is sitting pretty on triple j's hit list making them perfect fodder for the Splendour line-up.

Splendour organisers neither confirmed nor denied the leak, saying the line-up announce is due next month.

Bands currently leading the rumour list are Bloc Party, Jack White, The Shins, The Black Keys and The Temper Trap. Django Django is the first to let it slip in an interview.

Splendour in the Grass returns to Belongil Fields July 27-29.
