Injured Lydia accepts her fate

Lydia Hantke, from Tasmania, has been eliminated from The Biggest Loser again.
Lydia Hantke, from Tasmania, has been eliminated from The Biggest Loser again.

LYDIA Hantke's second Biggest Loser elimination was easier to swallow.

The 34-year-old's fate was sealed after her bid to eat her way to immunity failed earlier this week.

After suffering a debilitating knee injury, Hantke's last hope was a Temptation game of chance where she ate nearly 1000 calories' worth of cupcakes but still lost out on immunity to Kasey Cheesman.

"It was easier second time around but the reality was that you knew there'd be no more chances," Hantke said.

"I knew from my injuries that week the chances were I would be going home, so I was a bit more mentally prepared."

Hantke gained 900 grams and ended up below the yellow line with volunteer fire fighter Graham Pilson, who had recently expressed feelings towards her.

"Graham let me know he had some feelings towards me, but the house is such an unnatural environment to be in," she said.

"It's hard to know how you feel about somebody.

"I care about Graham a lot, but I don't necessarily think there's a future there."

Hantke was originally eliminated three weeks ago, but fought her way back into the competition after training with Shannan Ponton's secret team of eliminated contestants.

Her fellow competitors clearly still saw her as one of the biggest threats in the game, sending her home for the second time.

"I had a target on my back from the day we became individuals," she said.

"It's a pretty good way to leave the game, if you leave because you physically can't train. What more can you do?"

Despite her injury, Hantke has continued limited training at home in Tasmania and said she has a lost "a considerable" amount of weight.

She has also starting riding horses again, which was one of her life-long passions until her weight forced her to quit.

"Riding now, it's like I haven't been riding properly my whole life," she said.

"It has completely renewed my passion for the whole sport. I feel like such a different person."

After finale Hantke will have a full knee reconstruction on her right knee and arthroscopic surgery on her left knee.

"The Biggest Loser being over is just the start of the rest of my life," she said.

"I'm looking forward to getting to finale, and getting my knees fixed and figuring out what to do with my life."

Tomorrow night, the remaining contestants find out they'll be travelling to Switzerland to face their fears.

The Biggest Loser airs Sundays at 6.30pm and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Ten.
