THE accolades keep coming for chart-topping singer/songwriter Wally De Backer with the artist known as Gotye last night winning Song of the Year at the APRA Music Awards.

Gotye also celebrated the Australian Performing Rights Association's 30th annual awards ceremony with awards for Songwriter of the Year and Most Played Australian Work, but his peer-voted award for the smash hit single Somebody That I Used To Know continues a massive year for the Melbourne performer.

The song, from his album Making Mirrors, spent eight weeks on top of the charts here and recently topped the American Billboard chart - the first time an Australian act has done so since Savage Garden in 2000.
