GET your country on. That is what all-American country boy Chris Young is encouraging music lovers to do for this year's CMC Rocks the Hunter.

A stellar line-up of acts from around the globe will perform at the biggest International Country & Roots Festival outside of North America.

CMC Rocks the Hunter festival is in its sixth year and this year will see Rascal Flatts, Billy Ray Cyrus, The Band Perry, Adam Brand, Adam Harvey, Jasmine Rae, Catherine Britt, Cadd & Morris, The Farm, Amber Lawrence, Paul Greene and Tori Darke perform.

Young is also on the bill and he said he couldn't wait to get here.

"I'm looking forward to it. I've never been there before," he told The Guide.

He said he hoped to do a bit of sightseeing and maybe cuddle up with a koala during his visit.

"I'd like to go around and see some of the cities," Young said.

"I've seen photos (of so many of the places).

"I would like to kind of kill two birds with one stone."

The county music festival, which will take place from March 15 to 17, draws fans from all states and territories in Australia and overseas.

One of the premiere events on the Australian music calendar, it brings together the best international and local country and roots performers at Hope Estate in the beautiful Hunter Valley.

Young said people should expect an entertaining performance from him, even for those who don't know his music.

"I play for a lot of people who hadn't heard my stuff," he laughed.

"We have a lot of fun, play a lot more up-tempo stuff than ballads."

Young will perform on the main stage on Saturday, March 16, from 4.30-5.30pm and on Sunday, March 17, for the Songwriter Shows in the Campers Bar from 2-4pm.

The main stage program on Friday, March 15 will take place from 2-11pm. USA superstars, Rascal Flatts, will close the event late on Sunday.
