Ecoteam was awarded Business of the Year at this year's Crowe Horwath Lismore Business Excellence Awards on Saturday night.

The environmental solutions company also received the Sustainable Business award at the sold-out Lismore Chamber of Commerce event.

Meanwhile, Universal Medicine won the People's Choice award, Black Sombrero won Best New Business and Lismore Cruise and Travel won Best Retail Business.

Summerland Credit Union won the Professional Business of the Year, Mr Search won Home Based Business, Coffee Shots won Tourism & Hospitality and Nickel Energy won Manufacturing and Innovation.

North Coast Community Housing won the Community & Social Service Sector award, Customer Service went to Versacom and Summit Sport and Fitness Centre won Hair, Beauty & Wellbeing.

Crowe Horwath's marketing manager Cath Bashforth said the awards were a resounding success for the Lismore business community.

"It was such a great networking event," she said.

"The Lismore City Hall was showcased as a sensational venue and everything went very smoothly.

"As major sponsors, we were really rapt with how it all turned out."

Ms Bashforth said Ecoteam representatives were delighted to receive the top gong and their accompanying Sustainable Business award.

"I definitely think they had some big smiles on their faces," she said.

"They were surprised to get one, let alone two awards.

"The crowd also seemed to really love Coffee Shots, judging by the applause. It's very popular."

Ecoteam also won the Technology and Innovation category at last year's awards.

The chamber's website showed 470 votes were cast in the People's Choice award, 178 in the Customer Service award and 243 entry kits were downloaded.

Lismore Chamber of Commerce congratulated all winners and finalists for their "fabulous effort".
