Council rejects truck route

A REQUEST to re-gazette a B-double route through Alstonville and Wollongbar has been refused by Ballina Shire Council.

Roads and Maritime Services had asked the council to re-gazette the route for trucks in case the Alstonville bypass had to be closed because of an emergency.

However, the council has voted to refuse the request.

Instead, it will advise the RMS to investigate alternative options.
