INDIA Arie turned on her "Songversation" for Bluesfest, wowing the audience with her strong, sweet voice and gospel style songs.

The African-American singer, who has won four Grammy awards including best RnB album and sold 10 million records worldwide, told the audience the theme of the night was "give me my flowers".

This represented self -acceptance, honouring ourselves and honouring others, she said.

She then sang her hit Flowers, following it with an array of mellow sound and storytelling that eased the audience into the dusk.

Meanwhile, British soul singer-songwriter and actress Joss Stone was one of the crowd pleasers of Bluesfest yesterday, at one stage coming down in the audience to get closer to where she said the fun was.

Super Duper Love and her version of Bob Marley's I Want To Give You Some Good Lovin' went down like a cool drink on the hot Byron Bay day.

Stone looked radiant in a strapless black dress.

Today's line-up includes Dave Matthews Band, the John Butler Trio, Jeff Beck, Morcheeba, Ozomatli and the surprise hit of last year's festival, Saskwatch.
