UPDATE 10.35am: JUSTIN Bieber's gone, but he's left behind a legacy of photos and Twitter mash-ups from his impromptu visit to Byron Bay yesterday.
Still, that's probably better than the "legacy" he left spray painted over the entrance of the Gold Coast Hotel he stayed at.
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate fronted the hotel with a bottle of cleaner and some gloves to demand the Biebs clean up his mess, but the pop star was already long gone.
It's not clear if Cr Tate, feeling so strongly about the graffiti, got in and did the job himself.
"We've all been young once," he said.
"By the sounds of it, he's gone and done something really, really silly.
"But he's got an opportunity to make good - I'm sending, straight away, one of council's free graffiti kits ... and I urge him to treat this city the way Gold Coast fans treat him."
Bieber left the Gold Coast bound for Sydney this morning but Cr Tate told the Today Show the bad boy should fly back and clean up his mess.
November 27: IF you've noticed an unusually large crowd of teenage girls loitering at The Pass this afternoon, it's because Canadian pop star Justin Bieber is rumoured to be surfing there.
And while we can't confirm whether Bieber's on a board at the pass, it does appear the teen singer is at Byron Bay - at least, if his Instagram account is anything to go by.
Bieber has this afternoon posted two photos to his Instagram account that appear to show him on the walking path at Cape Byron.
Bieber is currently on tour in Australia. He played at Brisbane last night and on Monday night put in an appearance at The Gold Coast's Sin City night club.
Another image, just posted to Twitter, appears to show Bieber sunbathing next to the boat ramp at The Pass.
More recently, one of our Facebook readers reported seeing Bieber buying a pizza at Dominos.
