THIS year's Ballina Cup winner PlayitStraight is a confirmed starter for this Thursday's $45,000 XXXX Gold Lismore Cup.

The six-year-old trained by Barry Lockwood, is among 14 acceptances for the race.

Lockwood will be hoping the bay gelding can achieve a notable double, after seeing his charge triumph at Ballina earlier this month.

Horoscopes, trained by Ballina's Danny Bowen, will get an outing alongside Life Patrol.

The five-year-old, trained by Ballina's Terry McCarthy, won at Grafton last month and has enjoyed a reasonably successful year.

Object of Virtue, trained by Coffs Harbour's Brett Bellamy, is likely to be among the favourites after enjoying a solid recent run.

The race is one of eight on offer at Thursday's meeting and is off at 5.15pm.

Gates open at 11am for the event, one of the biggest dates on the region's annual racing calendar.
